My name is Sean “Silky” Hemphill and I am pursuing my dream of representing the United States in the 2020 Olympics in boxing. I am 22 years old and live in the great city of New Orleans, where I was born and raised. I faced many struggles growing up in New Orleans – losing my brother at 9 years old to gun violence and being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. I was fortunate enough to have Steven “Spyder” Hemphill as my father, a world-champion kick-boxer and master in several martial arts. His influence and discipline led me to boxing, where I found my passion and talent.
